Work Breakdown Structure - Defining a Project, Backwards

A while back I was helping a friend and neighbor research web-based construction management software. While home construction and project management are not my fields, I do have similar business challenges, so the research was educational for both of us.

During that process I came across the concept of a Work Breakdown Structure, a tool used in project management to define discrete work elements. The basic concept is to define planned outcomes, not planned actions. It sounds like simple semantics, until you actually try to think from two perspectives at once.

If you've ever planned or tracked a project with task or to-do lists, you've probably run into the same problems I have - too many tasks, undefined or overlapping tasks, and greater difficulty estimating time and costs. Using a WBS instead forces you to focus on results, leaving the implementation methods flexible.

I have eaten here before and have never been disappointed. Recently I tried the crab cakes and they were the best I ever had, meaty, flavorful with a crunchy, slightly spiced crust. My compliments to the chef, keep up the great work Cafe Adirondack!

We went to Pete's Ah! for the first time last week. Everyone who came in was ordering the red pepper soup, so we decided to give it a try. It really was excellent! What a unique soup and so tasty. The pizza was very good also. We will definitely be going back.

What is your FAVORITE PART of visiting Natural Stone Bridge and Caves Park?

I've never done a blog before... but for me, everytime I go down on our trails - I can't help but become overwhelmed by the power and beauty of nature. I see new patterns in the rocks and roots - getting me to think of all the past and present history that it displays - and also filling me with a feeling of being connected with these natural forces.

The menu has a wide variety of food from subs and salads to stuffed shells to pizza. I recommend this resturant anytime your going though Chestertown!
